ABOUT CAPE CORAL AIKIDO
Cape Coral Aikido offers instruction in the Yoshinkan style of Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art. Our Martial Arts Academy is located at 1242 SW Pine Island Rd. Unit #54 where we offer martial arts and self defense classes for kids, teens & adults. We are committed to bringing the Cape Coral and greater SWFL communities the best in martial arts instruction and welcome all to visit and observe a class or contact us to schedule a free trial class.
Our programs while taught in a safe, fun and friendly environment, challenge students to become more disciplined, confident, focused, calm, respectful and social with the added benefits of learning practical self-defense techniques and improving their overall health & fitness.
Experience is not necessary to train with us at Cape Coral Aikido, we simply ask that you attend each class with a friendly, positive attitude and a willingness to learn this very special martial art of Aikido. Classes are structured in a way that makes it easy and fun for students of all levels to progress.
Students are encouraged to participate at a level they feel comfortable with while their bodies get adjusted to Aikido training.

Meet Joe Scarlato
Owner/Head Instructor at Cape Coral Aikido Joe Scarlato began his training in the martial arts in 1991, studying the martial art of Miyama Ryu Ju-Jutsu in the Bronx, New York. In 1999, Joe began his training in the Yoshinkan style of Aikido in New York City under the instruction of Sensei David Fryberger, 6th degree Black Belt (Los Angeles Aikido). In 2004, he along with Sensei Roman Solonyy (New York Yoshinkan Aikido) became co-instructors of the New York City Dojo. In 2008, while working in Doha, Qatar, Joe founded and became the Head Instructor of the Aikido Yoshinkan of Doha. In 2018, shortly after relocating to Cape Coral, Joe began offering classes at the local youth center, has volunteered and taught classes for the Boys & Girls Club of Lee County and is now offering classes at its current academy, Seishin Dojo, on Pine Island Rd. His commitment to the studies of Yoshinkan Aikido has led him to meet and study under some of the most famous and talented Yoshinkan Aikido instructors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the U.S. Joe currently holds the rank of 5th degree black belt in Miyama Ryu Jujutsu and a 5th degree black belt in Yoshinkan Aikido, which he received while living and training in Japan. Joe is a former NYPD Detective and U.S. Marine, he is committed to providing both youth and adults, with a fun, safe, and positive place to learn and experience the life-changing benefits martial arts training is capable of providing and to make the Cape Coral Aikido Academy an amazing experience for everyone. |
